THE COVE JERVIS BAY

The Cove is the kind of Jervis Bay venue that does half the work for you — beachfront ceremony, marquee reception, the whitest sand on the coast about thirty seconds' walk from the dancefloor. We've played The Cove many times and our rig for this venue is specifically built around the beachfront-to-marquee transition that defines the day. For the beach ceremony we run a battery-powered system positioned beside the celebrant, never in front of the aisle, with a wireless lapel for the celebrant and a handheld in reserve for readings. There are four spots in the ceremony zone where sound carries without flattening into the dunes; we know which four they are. The afternoon sea breeze is consistent enough that you can plan around it, and we always set up early to mic-check against the actual wind, not a hypothetical wind. The marquee reception at The Cove has its own power story. The mains feed shares a circuit with the kitchen on busier weekends, so we bring our own distribution and run sub-feeds for lighting and PA on independent legs. This is the kind of thing nobody notices when it's done right and everybody notices when it isn't. Lighting in the marquee reads best with warm uplighting against the canvas walls, and we keep the big effects (moving heads, sparkulars if booked) for after the first dance — fighting the ocean view with strobe is a losing battle and an aesthetic crime. The Cove is two hours from our base in Wollongong. We stay overnight, every time. Our gear stays overnight. There's no "pack the van at 11 and drive home" pressure on the late-night run-sheet — the night runs as long as your venue curfew lets it run. Travel is included on our Signature package.
