The Lodge sits in the Jamberoo Valley, fifteen minutes inland from Kiama, and it's one of those venues that photographs differently to how it sounds. The valley acoustic is generous — sound carries beautifully if you respect the room, and lighting has to be managed carefully because anything too bright on camera washes out the natural setting that's the whole reason you booked the place. We've played The Lodge enough times to know the rhythm. The ceremony lawn faces the escarpment, which means your processional music has to fight a real natural soundscape — wind, birds, the occasional distant cattle — and you don't win that fight with volume, you win it with placement. We bring a small battery-powered system positioned close to the seated guests rather than blasting from the back of the lawn. The room sounds intimate because it's set up to be intimate. The reception space is where lighting becomes a real decision. The Lodge's interior glows beautifully in warm tones — we keep uplighting low and amber until the first dance, then transition the colour temperature and intensity as the night progresses. Photographers and videographers have thanked us for this approach after multiple Lodge weddings. The first-dance footage grades cleanly because we're not blasting blue moving heads at the same moment everyone is trying to be in soft, warm light. Jamberoo is in the Illawarra and we don't charge a travel fee to anywhere in the region. If you're planning a Lodge wedding, the practical advice is this: book your ceremony with enough margin before sunset that you can do photos in golden hour, and trust the venue's natural drama.
