What your wedding MC does on the night
The MC keeps the formal parts of a wedding reception moving, then hands the room to the music. These are the jobs we actually do.
- Welcome everyone and look after the announcements, so guests know where to be as they arrive and sit down.
- Introduce the bridal party and your entrance, in the order you give us.
- Introduce each speech, with walk-up music if you want it.
- Keep the formalities on time and flowing, including when a speech runs long and the room needs a clear next step.
- Call the key moments and bring you onto the dancefloor for your first dance, and a parent dance if that is on your plan.
- Then hand straight over to the music, with no awkward gap between the announcement and the first song.
We're there to help the night flow, not to make it about us.
How we plan it with you
Your timeline, names and MC requests go into Our Set, alongside your music. Song choices and the order of the night also live in the same place, so the mic and the music are planned together.
Bridal party names, the order of speeches, and who is speaking sit next to the songs. If something should stay off the mic, write it there so it is not lost in a text thread the week before.
Before the wedding we have a catch-up and go through the order of the night, so the announcements match what you actually want said. It is the same planning step we use for the music, so the mic and the playlist are not two separate briefs.

An extra hour is $150. Ceremony music is $450 for up to 3 hours. Travel is free from Stanwell Tops to Nowra, then $50 per hour travelled outside it. A $300 deposit secures the date, and full payment is due 7 days before. Full package details are on the weddings page. Everything together shows DJ, MC, ceremony and booth on one Wollongong quote.
Already have a friend or family MC?
Absolutely fine. We'll support them on the night. You do not have to take the MC add-on for us to DJ the wedding. Book the DJ package, tell us their name, and your DJ still looks after the music while they take the announcements.
Friend MC or a pro?
A friend knows your crowd, the in-jokes and the family history. That can be exactly right, especially at a smaller reception. Dan and Bryan know how a wedding night runs and keep it on time: when to start, when to move on, and when the room is ready to dance.
If you're unsure, start with your DJ booking and decide on MC later. If you do not, the DJ date can be locked first.
