The Southern Highlands is where NSW weddings go to look composed. Cool-climate wineries, Victorian estates, book barns, hedged gardens — the aesthetic runs Saturday-magazine rather than Saturday-night. But every Southern Highlands wedding we've played has a moment around 9:30pm where it's very much Saturday night. That moment is the whole point, and knowing how to build to it without ruining the room before you get there is the skill. We've played most of the region's flagship venues: Bendooley Book Barn, Centennial Vineyards, Milton Park, Mali Brae Farm, Montrose House, Robertson Hotel, Ravensthorpe Estate. Each has its own sound personality. Bendooley's barn rings beautifully but swallows vocals if the MC mic isn't dialled. Centennial's main room loves column speakers — full subs kill the room's charm. Milton Park's historic architecture dictates where lighting can and cannot go. Mali Brae's farm setting rewards a clean, subtle setup and punishes anything that looks like a nightclub. We do not stay overnight for Southern Highlands weddings. If the venue is more than one hour from Wollongong, a $100 travel fee applies and is quoted clearly before booking.
